Dog Meditation

A lot of people with "high drive" dogs struggle because they feel that they need to keep giving their dogs all sorts of stimulations and it just never seems to be enough.

Many run, rollerblade, swim, cycle for many hours plus agility and flyball classes many times a week yet their dog is still very "high energy" at the end of the day.

Anja has had 4 owners by the time she reached 2 years old. Her last owner jokingly commented that Anja had ADD.

I do not have problem with Anja at all. Yes, she is a high energy dog but she is not a wrecking ball whatsoever.

Anja is taught to be calm since day 1--she stays down in her crate, on her place mat, and also in public when I ask her to--and she can do so for hours if she has to. She will go into relaxed mode once she is down.

It is very important that owners with "high drive" dogs understand this concept.

When a person is meditating he/she views everything with indifference and never gets emotionally involved with anything. It is this same "aware but detached" mental state that I want my dog to achieve in a down stay.

Many high drive dogs are given up because no one has taught the dogs this important yet very simple lesson of dog meditation.
