Ignore is respect

Took little Frankie to a horse supply and feed store today. It is located by a lot of farms in the countryside. Everyone sort of just carried on with their business and left her alone. No one acted like they had never seen a dog in their life before. No one tried to pet her. No one talked to her in baby voices. No one even looked at her! It was so awesome! She was able to really relax and just be herself. She really liked it. People who grow up on farms around animals look at dogs as dogs. Dogs are much more balanced and well behaved when they are being respected as dogs. A lot of attention could sometimes make Frankie feeling stressed. She used to bite people’s faces and hands when they tried to pet her. She would bark at dogs and people due to her insecurity. She was very relaxed and at ease in this store around lots of people, pellet jacks, piles of hays, and other machines - when no one gave her any attention. In the human world, we express our love with constant attention and affection. In the animal world, ignore is a form of respect. Getting too close into another animal’s space can be considered rude, invasive, and intimidating. Ironically, when l take a dog into a pet shop in a city, many will act really emotional and approach my dog in a rather intrusive and overly hyper manner. On the other hand, in a store full of people who grow up working with animals in the countryside, Frankie was understood and respected. She was able to stay really relaxed. She could take her time to explore without getting constantly intruded. Me and Frankie really enjoy our experience in this place. It was so nice that we could just walk around and be ourselves. Everyone ignored her and totally respected her as a dog (not as a fur baby or a petting zoo animal), which is how it should be.
