Why are you afraid to say no?
I have seen so many owners who were afraid to correct their dogs. Many of them have been to other training classes and they were told that if they corrected their dogs, their relationship would definitely be damaged and there would be fallouts and their dogs would turn on them. I have met owners with scars all over their arms, ladies who could not wear bathing suits due to numerous scars on their thighs, seniors with cuts all over their faces after being pulled and dragged on the ground by their dogs, parents who were scared of their own family dogs because their children had been bitten. These owners were already living in fear of their own dogs, before they seek training help; yet, more fear was put on them - they were told to be very afraid about correcting their dogs for the unacceptable behaviour - and the behaviour never stopped. As a result of that, they lived in more fear and frustration, and the problems of their dogs continued. Life became very stressful. Going back home meant facing the dog they loved whom ironically also someone they dread to face. They could not even relax in their own homes. Their life became terrible. Their relationship suffered. They were miserable. This is wrong. As a dog trainer, we are supposed to reduce the stress of dogs and owners, not increase it. We are supposed to help dogs and their owners to live a happier life, not to make their life more miserable. Correction is not evil. There is a time to say yes, and a time to say no. We should not be afraid to say no - we should learn how to say no properly. I can guarantee you, speaking from my own personal experience, after working with lots and lots of dogs with very serious problems, that a properly administered correction will not damage your relationship nor cause any fallout. Instead, it will stop the craziness and improve your relationship; it will help you to live a wonderful life in harmony with your dog. Your dogs will be happier, you will be happier, and everyone’s quality of life will improve tremendously. Please don’t be afraid to say no. Instead, please go find someone who can teach you how to say it properly. https://www.perfectcompanionk9.com/single-post/2018/06/22/Why-are-you-afraid-to-say-no
