If you have to choose between giving up treating your dog like a human baby vs giving up your dog entirely, what would you choose?
You may be surprised to know how many people l have met chose the latter instead.
“I feel so sad about giving up my dog...but l think he will be happier with someone else.”
Usually, what really happened is that the dog would have been really happy with the same person and would also behave much better if the owner could only stop humanizing the dog to the extreme.
“But l have a hard time not sleeping with my dog!”
It really breaks my heart to see someone who says he/she has a hard time giving up his/her own desire (I.e. constantly using the dog to satisfying the desire to coddle, to humanize, to seek comfort); but does not have a hard time giving up the dog to a stranger!
When you have a dog, please be committed to your dog. Please put your dog’s best interest first.
If you know what needs to be done in order to make your dog better, and you know how to do it, and you have seen what it can do to help your dog - even if it may not make you feel good (e.g. not sleeping with your dog), please make the commitment to follow through.
Please think about giving up your old habits before thinking about giving up you dog.
