It’s not avoidance!

January 3, 2019

One simple thing a lot of reactive dog owners misunderstand is that it is not about how many dogs your reactive dog has sniffed but how many dogs your reactive dog has felt safe around that is going to help your dog to stop being anxious.

Not allowing random dog to come close to your dog is not “avoidance”; it is called doing your job as your dog’s protector.

Don’t creat anxiety by forcing your dog to interact with random stranger dogs you know nothing about; instead, please focus on creating only safe, calming and relaxing experience when your dog is with you.

Please show him you have everything under control and you are a strong leader who is perfectly capable of advocating for him, so your dog can relax under your guidance and feel safe around other dogs.
