Human Coaching
We won't send you home after just a few brief instructions in a classroom.
Ensuring you are fully ready to handle your dog in everyday life before taking your dog home is at the heart of everything we do.
Our Human Coaching System consists of two key steps:
1. Go-home lesson
Before your dog returns home, we will have a go-home lesson where we walk you through every new technique and protocol in a clear, easy-to-understand way.
You will receive plenty of hands-on practice until you feel fully prepared and capable.
But this is only the first step.
2. Real-world practicum
Once you are comfortable with these new skills, we will take the next step: applying what you have learned in the real world.
We will head out together for a hands-on practicum in a busy public environment, where we will show you exactly how to navigate situations involving unfamiliar dogs, people, children, and other triggers your dog used to react to.
What happens if the lesson doesn't go as planned?
When your dog makes a mistake, we don't simply remove your dog from the situation or tell you to avoid those triggers forever.
Instead, we will provide you with step-by-step instructions and detailed demonstrations, making sure you know exactly how to overcome the same situation when it comes up again.
We will keep practising with you until you have the confidence and skills to handle your dog on your own.
What can you expect at the end?
By the end of this practicum, you will know how to recognize what your dog is telling you, how to respond appropriately, and how to help your dog recover and keep moving forward after making a mistake.
Before you take your dog home, we will ensure that:
-
Your dog trusts you and looks to you for direction, permission, and protection rather than reacting impulsively once triggered.
-
You can stay composed and problem-solve independently, even when facing circumstances that used to make you nervous.
